What Is Bootlint?

Bootlint is a tool that was released by the Bootstrap team in order to catch errors in sites built with their Bootstrap framework. The official announcement blog posts describes it as:

An HTML linting tool for projects using vanilla Bootstrap. Using Bootlint you can automatically check your Bootstrapped webpages for many common Bootstrap usage mistakes.

What Is This Extension?

This extension will add a single button to your Google Chrome browser. When clicked it will automatically run Bootlint against the currently active tab.

If you don’t see the icon like the screenshot above illustrates you can click the right hand chevron to show a drop down menu of your installed extensions. You can drag this icon up to the toolbar for easy access if you want.

Bootlint will then show an alert box if it finds Bootstrap errors on the page.

To view the errors you just press F12 and click through to the console tab:

Bookmarklet Alternative

Note: you don’t need to download the official Bootlint distribution to use this Chrome extension, it automatically pulls in a copy which is hosted on BootstrapCDN.
